You’re probably NOT a Businesswoman. Seems a bit harsh..right? Sometimes the truth hurts.
Do you honestly know what you REALLY want?
When creating NEW brands this is always the FIRST question I ask future/new entrepreneurs. The reason I ask this question is because the majority of people who start new businesses are doing it for all the wrong reasons.
Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart. You have to be BUILT for business. If you are starting and/or started a new business because you need money to fund your passion…DON’T. You should start a business BECAUSE you are passionate about what it is you are doing.
Figure out what you are good at and/or your passion.
Having a hard time finding out what your passion TRULY is? Think back to your childhood. What was it that made you the happiest? Think about how that thing can be added to your life at this time. Another way you can figure out your passion is to study people who are doing what it is you want to do. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Figure out how YOU can DO IT differently.
Just Do It.
Often times we procrastinate. We worry that we are not ready. We spend a lot of time “researching” how to do it. JUST DO IT. The best way to find out if it will work is to simply try. Don’t wait until your business plan is done, you have all of the funds, and you have the “perfect” team.
How great would it be to say I tried, I didn’t like it, and so I moved on. Trust me it’s a lot easier than saying I lost everything I owned, I hated every moment of it, and I failed because I didn’t really want/like it. Maybe that “thing” is just a hobby but not a passion and that’s okay. However, the last thing you want to do is start a business because it seems cool.
You’re probably NOT a Businesswoman.
Be honest with yourself. You started and/or are thinking about starting a business because you need money to fund your passion/hobby. Why wouldn’t you simply find a way to earn money doing what it is you are passionate about. Sometimes that means being an employee and not an employer. Not everyone is built for entrepreneurship.
Don’t spend the rest of your life trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. If you find something that you ARE passionate about or good at and you are willing to risk EVERYTHING to succeed then by all means DO YOU/DO IT! If not, don’t. It’s that simple.
